Hindi is one of the faces of a diasystem, where Urdu is the other face. Both languages are based on the Khariboli dialect, but whereas Urdu is written with Arabic script, Hindi employs the Devanagari script. As a part of the standardization of Hindi, many Persian and Arabic loan words have been exchanged for neologism or loanwords based on Sanskrit.

Hindi, including its dialects, is the most widespread of the languages in India, and this was probably the reason why Hindi became the de facto link language of almost whole India - often informally termed the “national language”.

उत्तरी वायु और सूरज बहस कर रहे थे कि दोनों में से ज़्यादा बलवान कौन है, जब एक राही गर्म लबादे में लिपटा हुआ वहाँ से गुज़रा.
ऊन दोनों ने तय किया कि जो उस राही का लबादा पहले उतरवाने में सफल होगा वो ज़्यादा बलवान होगा.
वायो ने तीव्र गति से उड़ना शुरू किया पर वो जितना तेज़ होती, उतना ही वो राही अपने आप को लबादे में कस कर लपेट लेता.
आखिरकार वायु ने हार मान ली, अब सूरज बहुत तेज़ चमका और राही ने तुरन्त ही लबादा उतार दिया.
अन्त में उत्तरी वायु को मानना ही पड़ा कि सूरज उन दोनों में से ज़्यादा बलवान है.
